Lynda and I are both US Military retirees and, as such, we enjoyed a variety of benefits from healthcare to base privileges, etc. One of our favorite benefits is that we can camp at any of the 260+ US military campgrounds across the United States.
We actually prefer to stay in military campgrounds because they are safe and economical, and most of them are well designed and offer good amenities. For example, one of the very nicest RV parks we have ever been to, and we've stayed at some fancy places, is the Desert Eagle RV Park at Nellis Air Force Base. This RV park is about 20 minutes from the Vegas strip, costs only $22 a night for a full hook-up site, and offers first-class amenities.
Who can stay in US Military Campgrounds? US Active Duty, Guard, Reservists, and military retirees can use any US military campground. In addition, most of these campgrounds are also open to DoD Civilians and 100% disabled veterans.
The best website we've found for information about military campgrounds is U.S. Military Campgrounds and RV Parks. Check it out!
